LNG and Refining
Although EV’s are coming, major industries will depend on petroleum products such as diesel for heavy goods transfer and jet fuel for the foreseeable future. Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) will be the transition fuel brought alleviate crisis (Russia/Ukraine/Europe) and provide baseload energy to heat homes and provide clean cooking fuels when renewables stop producing. Alexander A. Kulpecz, PhD
Synopsis
Dr. Kulpecz is CEO of Alexander Energy Limited, a boutique advisory group of professionals focused on energy investments across the spectrum from oil/gas/LNG/refining, wind power development and manufacturing and lithium exploration/refining. Dr. Kulpecz earned a PhD in Stochastic modelling from Imperial College of Science and Medicine, Univ. of London, an MBA (Henley Business School, UK), and BA- MSc degrees in Geology from Rutgers Univ., NJ USA. He has extensive commercial, operational and management experience in the up/mid/downstream oil and gas, power generation, windpower and private equity/venture capital investment communities. His focus is originating business opportunities, building the business case, arranging financing for the project, then mentoring the management team and the investment to maturity. He held a succession of senior executive positions at the Royal Dutch Shell group as an Executive Committee Member, primarily in the exploration and production area and latterly as Executive Director and EVP of Shell International Gas and Power for Eastern/Central Europe, Russia, Africa and Latin America. During this time, he was responsible for numerous major commercial field developments, drilling for oil & gas, major acquisitions and capital projects (gas distribution company, COMGAS of Brazil), pipelines, LNG, Power generation, strategic initiatives, reorganization of the Exploration/Production and Gas & Power sectors of Shell. He was responsible for the successful construction, financing and start-up of multi-billion USD Nigeria LNG trains 1-2. He was also responsible to the CEO for all oil & gas production for the North Sea (UK, Norway, Netherlands) and continental Europe for Shell. He negotiated directly at the Presidential and Ministerial levels. Afterwards, he was Chairman of a windpower development co, and since has acted as a senior energy advisor to investment funds (Carlyle/Riverstone, Riverstone, ITI Energy, Silver Point Capital, McIntyre Partners) and the Boston Consulting Group. He has sourced many highly successful financial transactions and served on the Board or Advisor of some of the companies involved. In conjunction with the Carlyle/Riverstone, he sourced, was a Board member and sold Petroplus which owned four refineries in Belgium, UK and Switzerland. Dr. Kulpecz, is based in Houston, New York and Colorado.
